These aren’t the droids we’re looking for

Leave it to Brian to yet another nerdy scar that looks incredible.  I talked to Brian shortly before he started work on this piece at the Philly tattoo convention, and asked him about what technique he was going to use.  If you recall the last Star Wars scar he did he combined both cutting and branding to create a phenomenal piece.  Well it turns out that branding wasn’t an option this time around as the smell of burning flesh tends to overpower other scents.

In any case, you can see that even without branding this scar turned out fantastic.

Head on over to Brian’s BME portfolio gallery to see some of the other scars that he did at the convention.

The Follow-up

This Friday Tuesday Follow-up is going to be the last one of the year, and since I’ll be on my way to the BME New Year’s Eve party on Friday, I thought I should get it to you guys and gals as soon as possible.

This week’s scar was sent in by the lovely Miss V.  At last year’s Philly Tattoo Convention, Brian sat down to carve out these honeysuckles onto V’s back.  Here’s what it looked like back then.

To see how it looks today, you know what to do.

And yes, she had just stepped out of the shower to take that picture.  Taking a look at V’s scar gallery on her IAM page, this isn’t the only scar she has that has healed beautifully.  In fact, this isn’t the only scar she has that Brian has done.  You can check out more in his BME scar portfolio.

Now witness the firepower of this fully scarred and branded battle station

He’s done it again folks.  Brian has managed to blend scarification and branding together to create a brilliant replication of the Death Star from Return of the Jedi.  On top of that he’s added a Darth Vader scar to go along side it.  According to Brian this is just the beginning of an entire Scar Wars sleeve, in which the wearer will eventually incorporate tattooing to compliment the scars.

Brian is also going to be appearing at the Philly Tattoo convention next year and has some open spots available if you’re looking to get some scar work done.

Make sure you go and check out Brian’s BME gallery to see more scars by him.

Three week reversal

The tongue is an incredible part of the human anatomy.  Considering the fact that when it is split down the middle it not only remains perfectly functional, but each half can be moved independently of the other.  Of course to some people who have their tongue split, there may come a day when they wish to have it reversed.  This is where Brian comes in.  You see, not only does Brian excel at scarification and every other mod he can think of, he’s also able to expertly reverse the process of a tongue split.

Take a look at this recent reversal.

Fresh

Now take a look at the tongue only three weeks later..

From here it looks like the tongue never was split to begin with.  An impressive feat by both Brian, and the almighty tongue.

The Final Countdown

Ok, so maybe it’s not the “final” countdown, but this negative space tattoo cutting Brian Decker did recently does evoke the old movie countdown graphic.

72

As for the number 72?  Well, I did some looking into information about the number 72, and I found a lot more than I expected.  The most common interpretation comes from Hebrew, which is that 72 is the number that represents the name of god, or at least the shortened version from the 216 character name.  But this is just the starting point.

The number 72 appears in the mythos of numerous cultures all over the world.  Islam and Christianity both have occurrences where 72 is a significant number, both to Jesus and Muhammad.  In Tarot, Babylonian-Mesopotamian Numerology, Satanism, and Taoism, 72 pops up again and again as a number of importance.  A lot of the times number refers to a set grouping, either in terms of two groups of 36, or a single unit of 72.  If you’re really curious about the specifics, this wiki article has a good breakdown of the details.

As for what significance it played for the person in the picture, I honestly don’t know.  Yet it certainly is significant to them.  Of course after I spent some time looking into meanings, someone will come along and point out that it’s probably the year he was born.

Update:  The owner of the arm is none other than IAM: Nilrem.  In addition to Brian’s scar, the tattoo was done by Corey Ferguson, both of whom Nilrem found through BME.  As for the meaning of the tattoo:  the 72 represents his life expectancy.  Check the comments below for the specifics, as well as his IAM page to see how it’s healing up.

As for Mr. Decker.  He’s been uploading a lot of new images to his BME gallery, so it’s worth a visit to check out what he’s been up to.

To protect the world from devastation…

…to unite all peoples within our nation.

A few weeks back I featured an excellent scarification piece of a Pokemon by the name of Ninetails.  After seeing so many people chiming in on their love of all things Pokemon, I knew it was only a matter of time that I’d see more Pokemon related images in the galleries.  What I wasn’t expecting was this image sent in by IAM: Dead Filmaker.

pokeball

As the self-professed “biggest nerd ever!”, Dead Filmaker had these implants inserted underneath his Pokeball tattoos a mere 5 days before attending the 2010 National Pokemon Championships.  I can only imagine how fun it must have been to have Brian insert the one closest to his wrist from an opening up by the elbow.  Not seeing any other sutures I’m assuming that they were all done using the same point of entry.

Now I’ll admit I was never a huge fan of Pokemon, at least nowhere near as big a fan as Mr. Filmaker there, but I did enjoy the games and show.  I only had the original gameboy game, so I never got to see Team Rocket appear in the games, but Jesse and James were easily the best thing about that show.  It’s a shame they always failed so spectacularly, the show would have been so much better if they had won much more often and Ash and co. were the ones screwing up trying to get their Pokemon back.

You can check out more photos like this, including more work by Mr. Brian Decker, in the 3D implant gallery.

Oh, I see what you did there!

The dynamic duo of Mr. Decker and Miss. Nae are back on ModBlog with an interesting look into Nae’s hand implants that you may have seen before.

It seems Nae was in a bit of a fender bender the other week, and while she is fine, she did get a few x-rays taken just to be on the safe side.  Now I know we’ve all seen images of mods appearing in x-rays before, but I think this is the first time (at least that I could find) where a large silicone implant came up so noticeably in the image.

nae

I guess this really does prove that over time Brian can really get under your skin, and stay there.  I kid of course, otherwise Brian’s better half will come knock on my door and kick my ass.

Anyway, I’m always intrigued as to what the doctors say after looking at an x-ray and someone’s mods show up.  Anyone have any good war stories from the ER?

Brian stops the Unstoppable!

Pauly is no stranger to modblog, In fact he has reached damn near celebrity status for his mods and particularly for his stretching. That is why so many people were shocked when he had Brian reconstruct his lobes from 3 3/8″ to nothing!  Before you ask why, take a minute to read Pauly’s blog where he explains his motives.

screen-shot-2010-06-29-at-20719-pm

I don’t know many practitioner’s, bod mod or medical, who have done more ear lobe reconstructions that Brian, and it is evident in the quality of this reconstruction. That’s a genuine compliment, I am not just being nice because it is that delightful sunuvabitch’s  35th birthday today either!

Not THAT GUY again!

Brian Decker is no stranger to Modblog, in fact, rarely a week goes by that his name doesn’t get credited in a post. When I search the updates to various galleries looking  for photos worthy of featuring here, I try and maintain some sort of variety both in content and with the artist responsible for the work. However, Brian just keeps knocking out amazing piece after amazing piece and who am I to deny featuring them just  for the sake of variety?

Anyhow, when it comes to 3d art implants, not only is Brian awesome at the technical procedure he is also awesome  as an artistic silicone carver. He really understands what amount of detail will show through in the healed product and has the carving skills to make it all work. This picture of Nae’s 10 month old flower implant he did is a great showcase of those skills.
