Symbols and Gods

Recently Bree was the subject of a photo shoot by Carlos Melgoza, for his Anima Nocturna project.

Anima Nocturna is a collaborative effort of occultists who express themselves in different mediums and is directed by artist and photographer Carlos Melgoza. The Embodiment of Symbols and Gods The subjects embraced by Anima Nocturna are brought about by mystical experiences and divine inspiration, each are different aspects of the path and paying attention to these mysteries is a natural inclination of the collective group.

Bree’s beautiful tattoos and stunning features made her a perfect choice for the project, as you can see in the photos below.

You’ll need to keep on reading to see the other photo…

Photos from the rest of the shoot can be found in the fantasy tattoo gallery, and a closer look at her legs can be seen in this ModBlog post from just over a year ago.

New Year’s BMEBoy

Well for some odd reason, there aren’t any heavily modified babies to have as the BME New Year’s baby, so you’ll have to do with a BMEBoy instead.  Now, as the baby is normally portrayed pushing aside an old man with a beard, it’ll be only fitting if Evan here were to start growing his beard again for the new year.  Who knows, maybe by this time next year he’ll have himself a nice epic beard to help usher in a new BMEBoy for 2012.

Among Evan’s many piercings are his stretched lobes, a few nostril piercings, a medusa, a large gauge cartilage piercing, and while you can’t see it, he’s also got himself a fairly large septum.

Can’t stop the chops

When it comes to facial hair, chops seem to get the short end of the stick.  So much time is spent on the mighty beard, and with the resurgence of the mo even less time is spent discussing chops.  Which is a shame really.  Think about it, chops have been present throughout history on some of the baddest of badasses.  Every civil war hero seems to have had them, and what would Wolverine be like without his chops?  Just a wise cracking badass having a bad hair day.  It’s the chops that make his awesome level go through the roof.

Thankfully there are still guys like Demon280z who are still proud to rock the chops.  He’s also showing off his 1 1/4″ lobes and what looks like a pair of lip rings.

BMEBoy, Beard, and Blackwork

I’m pretty certain there are quite a few ModBlog readers who would list those three things as their favorite ModBlog topics.  So why not put them all together?

This dashing young man goes by the name of Somekindarobot, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s his birthday tomorrow!  So lets wish this bearded gent a very happy birthday.

If you’re a big fan of his arm, you can check out more in the tribal and blackwork gallery.

Ear pointing redux

To some, getting their ears pointed is one of the last steps they can take with their upper ear.  Well Zephyr*Elf here has shown us that not only was she not finished with her ear pointing, she also intended to get them pointed a second time.  Back in July she had the opportunity to meet up with Efix Roy and have her ears pointed for the second time.  The initial pointing was done by Lukas Zpira, who did a fantastic job, but for the look Zephyr was going for a second pointing was necessary, as you can see by just how pointed the end result is.  In addition to the second pointing, he also scalpeled her lobes, with her 20mm lobe going to 1 inch, and her reconstructed lobe being reopened to 10mm.  So, now that a few months have passed, you can see just how well everything healed up.

If you want to see photos of the ears just after the procedure, you can find them on her IAM page.

Still Beautiful

You may have noticed that this day has been chock full of BMEBoys and Girls, and with good reason.  They’ve all submitted pics in the past week.  For the most part, the pictures that are posted on ModBlog come directly from the BME Galleries, which means it’s up to you, the readers, to send in the photos that you want to see.  Uploading photos to BME is really easy too.  Just log in to your BME account, go to your profile page, click on “Media“, and then click on Add New: Photos on the right side of the screen.  From there you just upload your photos.  Of course you can also upload videos and stories as well.  And that’s it.  Once the photos go through the queue they’re up on BME for everyone to see, and from there can be posted on ModBlog.  You don’t even need a paid subscription to send in photos, just sign up for a free account to be able to send them in.

Now, all that said, I’d like you to meet StillyoungStillbrainless. She sent in this photo of herself, taken by Shelby Hale.  With all the attractive people posted today, you can easily see why I saved her for last: she’s a beautiful girl, in a beautiful photo.

What a great way to end an already great day.

The Life Aquatic

As tempting as it may be to use that headline for a Bill Murray post, it’s much better served for this young lad and the remarkable photo that was taken of him.

I just really like the composition of this shot, with the bubbles and ripples in the water, to his eye being perfectly open.  The blue background also helps give this photo a slightly surreal quality.  I actually had to take a moment to realize that his lobes were stretched, as I was focused on everything else in the shot.

Silhouette at dusk

As the sun sets in the Brazilian sky, Joao_Caldara looks out on the world.  For us at home/work, we get to admire not only the setting sun that he sees, but also see it from a different perspective, which is through his lobes.

Of course some of you may be wondering what Joao looks like in the light.  Thankfully he sent in another photo for your viewing pleasure.

She’s Heartless

Ok, so she may not be heartless, but she is missing some skin in the shape of a heart.  Normally when we see scarification and tattoos combined it’s a scar design over top of blackwork, or a cutting used to enhance a tattoo (or vice versa).   In this case we’ve got a scar that cuts right through her vast assortment of chest tattoos.  It gives a nice contrast to them as it shows that underneath her skin, which is covered in spider webs and zombie legs, she has a heart that is strong enough to push through her exterior.  So no matter what someone may judge about how she looks from the outside, what matters most is what is inside.  Then again we’re here to admire her, which shouldn’t be a problem considering how pretty she is.

You can check out more of Anders’ work in his scarification portfolio.
