A helping hand

If you recall, back in July some members of our community were involved in a car accident.  Now while most of them have recovered, Arwen “Spliff” Rosa is still in the ICU.

While he has made progress, he’s not out of the woods yet and is still in need of constant care.  Spliff and his wife Jill are from NYC and have been in Texas since the accident.  While the support has been incredible, Jill is 7 months pregnant with their child and when the baby is born it will become incredibly difficult to care for both Spliff and the baby.  Back in NYC the two have a large support network of family and friends, and are now looking to get Arwen transferred to a facility in NYC.

They have been accepted into an excellent facility and are now on the wait list.  When the call comes, they will have 4 days to move Arwen from Texas to NYC or they will lose their spot.  Due to his condition, Spliff will require a medical air transport, which isn’t cheap.

From Jill:  “The goal we need to work with right now is getting him/us back home to New York. Arwen has been accepted to a facility there. We are waiting for a bed to open up for him. Once we get that call we’ve got about 4 days to make it there before they pass it on to who’s next on the list. We were going to use long distance ground transport, but due to his health and the weather headed back east it seems to be a dangerous idea. We need to fly him home.”

Arwen is not getting the care he needs out here and there’s only a couple people who can physically help us. In New York we’ve got family, support system, lots of resources, everything we need. Not to mention our Baby girl is due in about 8 weeks! I have been trying to look into medical foundations and charities so far with no luck. Please help if you can.

Suspension.org has set up a donation page and are looking for help.  If you have anything that you can give, head on over to the donation page and give what you can.

Suspending Passion

To the great many people out there that suspend, it can easily become a strong passion in their life.  Southtownbaby is one such person.  We’ve seen her on ModBlog before with her bird of paradise scar.  Today, we get to see her enjoying something she has a passion for.  As a bonus, she’s even shared with us something special, just to show you how much suspending means to her.

The ressurection suspension was facilitated by Hanging City Suspensions down in Fort Smith, AZ.

Well, that’s it for 2010 ModBlog.  I hope everyone has a fun and safe new year’s eve.  And remember, you’re always welcome to join me and the rest of the BME staff at the BME NYE Party!  Just check the event listing for all the details.

New Year’s BMEBoy

Well for some odd reason, there aren’t any heavily modified babies to have as the BME New Year’s baby, so you’ll have to do with a BMEBoy instead.  Now, as the baby is normally portrayed pushing aside an old man with a beard, it’ll be only fitting if Evan here were to start growing his beard again for the new year.  Who knows, maybe by this time next year he’ll have himself a nice epic beard to help usher in a new BMEBoy for 2012.

Among Evan’s many piercings are his stretched lobes, a few nostril piercings, a medusa, a large gauge cartilage piercing, and while you can’t see it, he’s also got himself a fairly large septum.

All in the family

This pair of handsome fellows are the brother and son of IAM:krush3dr3amz.  The little man insisted on getting a dragon tattoo, and sure enough Junk, from Junkyard Studios in Hialeah, FL was happy to oblige.  By the looks of it, I’d say he’s pretty happy with the results.  Who knows, in another 10 years or so, those doodles may end up being real tattoos and we could be seeing him on ModBlog again.

She moves in mysterious ways

A little dash of mystery is a nice way to kick of the last day of ModBlog for the year.  Come Friday all the BME staff are going to be at BMEHQ for the BME New Year’s Eve Party.  You’re all invited, so if you haven’t made plans yet, check out the event page for all the details.

As for the mystery woman, all I can tell you is that Daniel from Brightmoor in Columbia, TN did her tattoos.

Tying one off

No, this isn’t a go get drunk on new year’s eve post.  Although if you’re still looking for a party, the BME New Year’s Eve Bash is open to all, so if you can get to Virginia, head on over to BME HQ.  And no, you don’t have to get drunk to have a good time on new year’s eve.

Now, back to the post, as I said, this isn’t a go get drunk post, it’s a “check out this corset done by Suzanne from Modify Body Piercing in Adelaide, South Australia” post.

The only info on the model is that her name is Bec.  Photography by Tahlia Gray.

Can’t stop the chops

When it comes to facial hair, chops seem to get the short end of the stick.  So much time is spent on the mighty beard, and with the resurgence of the mo even less time is spent discussing chops.  Which is a shame really.  Think about it, chops have been present throughout history on some of the baddest of badasses.  Every civil war hero seems to have had them, and what would Wolverine be like without his chops?  Just a wise cracking badass having a bad hair day.  It’s the chops that make his awesome level go through the roof.

Thankfully there are still guys like Demon280z who are still proud to rock the chops.  He’s also showing off his 1 1/4″ lobes and what looks like a pair of lip rings.

Resolutions

This is the time of year for reflection.  To look back upon the year and set goals for the next.  To some these resolutions can be fun little things, and to others they’re serious commitments.  It’s also the time of year that gyms make a ton of money off of people by signing them up for a year’s membership, knowing full well 90% of the people will stop coming in after a month.  Now for those that make some serious commitments, this time of year can mark a significant moment in their life.  Of course, new years isn’t the only time to make a serious life decision, as you can see by Pinkfloydboy’s first tattoo.

It’s simple, to the point, and probably one of the most significant decisions he’s made in his life.

Have you made your resolutions yet?
