Making waves

Our final international post of the day comes from Mistertom. They’re doing implants underneath the black tattoos if it wasn’t obvious. I’m going to try to post some photos of two tattooed folk hanging out in Hawai’i if I can get the internet to let me upload more photos. Thanks for the underwater camera photo tips from all you camera pros out there. I appareciate it!

BMEtv – Henning Jørgensen

I was really excited to post this interview with Henning Jørgensen not only because he’s an amazing tattoo artist and all around nice guy but because it’s a great in depth interview which is the direction we’re working to. Considering this is our third video to date, I’m pretty proud of the direction that it’s heading.
As soon as I can get some more videographers on board to help out, we’ll be able to get a lot more videos put together and posted. If you’re interested in interviewing your local or favorite tattooer, let me know. You can always film them (along with background footage  ie “b-roll”) and send the raw video for me to edit and post.

Gentle Cuttings

Venis In Fur sends in her scarification by Ighlif. I’d be interested to know how old the cutting is because it doesn’t look like it was cut very deeply. It’s definitely a nice interpretation and placement considering the normal scarification in this area on women tends to be flowers or some other flowing piece. This one flows nicely and the placement is very fitting.

Included in her submission was the following quote:

“art cannot be modern. art is primordially eternal. to restrict the artist is a crime. it is to murder germinating life.”

BMEtv – Bugs

This is the second in the series I’ve put together for BME. I meant to post it yesterday but there were some issues here and there getting on the internet. Bugs is a tattoo from England, working out of a shop called Evil from the Needle. He’s currently working in Venice, CA. I tried to get some link action going on for this write up but my internet is failing miserably.
The next video that I’m going to post later this week is with Henning Jørgensen, which I can’t wait for. It’s one of the best ones we’ve done so far.  If you like these videos, don’t forget to check out our first video interview with Trevor McStay. Also, please post comments on if you like the videos or not so I know if this is something I should continue doing. I’ve got 4 more that need to be edited that are already filmed. Like I said, I can’t wait because I’m very excited. I’ve been compiling the list of suggestions from the other entries but if you have more suggestions on artists you’d like to see interviewed, please post them below!

Good Morning Hawai’i!

As I have posted in the past couple of days, I’m in Hawaii for a wedding. It’s been storming and raining since we got here. We spend today walking around Lahaina where we met Rachel from Atomic Tattoo in Lahaina. It had a lot of cool old flash from tons of tattooers around the world as well as stacks of portfolios from one of their artists named Yvette. I was surprised by the sheer amount of photos in her portfolio. The majority of them were flowers. It was definitely my kind of shop.

After we got back to the hotel, we decided to go for a swim as it had finally stopped raining. I had gotten lucky and stopped at a little camera shop where they had an underwater housing for my old canon camera. I got it for cost because my camera isn’t made anymore. I was testing it out in the pool because we’re going to try and go snorkeling on Molokini if it ever stops raining. This is one of the photos that came out of just messing around in the pool at dark.

Norm and I tried to do our best to remember what they said on ANTM on how to “pose” underwater but due tot he salt water pool, it was really hard to even stay under the water. Norm did a better job than I did!

I’m not sure what else is going on in the world around us but I’ve got a video with Bugs to post later today once it’s all finished processing and some lovely girls along the way. Hope you’re all having a great day.

High Five

I’m a little surprised by the email I just got. Considering I’m sitting in a hotel on Maui and Jasn is apparently here working out of Pacific Roots. I’ll have to investigate further! Unless I’m confused, Jasn has been all around the US, Canada and now out here on the lovely island of Maui!

Angry Eyebrows!

Norm and I both laughed for a couple minutes when we pulled up this image. We debated the click through aspect of it and I was hoping this one would past the test. I’ll give you a hint. It’s either a penis tattoo or a giant clitoris tattoo. You be the judge. Click only if you want to find out!

Good Cat Bad Cat

Tony Touch out of Infinite Art in Toledo, Ohio did the kitties on the back of  Knux‘s calve tattoos. In case you haven’t noticed already, the commentary is short and sweet. Not that I’m a long winded airbag to begin with but I’m trying to have a little fun in the sun. If you’re all lucky, I’ll try and get pictures of some of the worst tourist tattoos I can find by the pool.
