Alyssa got this large text tattoo of a Kerouac quote (from “On The Road“), done by Kim Durham at Prix Body Adornment in Hollywood, CA.

The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes “Awww!”

Junk Food Tattoos

Star and RockyRoad got these matching White Castle slider buddy tattoos, done by Cindy Solano at No Ka Oi in Philadelphia, PA. By the way, if you want to be in a book about buddy tattoos, here’s a book on the subject that’s in progress and looking for submissions.

In equally unhealthy territory, Kalvin got this “cream cheese and chives” Captain’s Wafers tattoo, done by Ol’ Dirty Rob at Anthem Tattoo in Gainesville, Florida. He explains the design choice, saying, “I just really like these crackers. They’re heavenly. I’m a pirate…”

BMEfest 2008

Save the date — BMEfest is back! We’re thrilled to announce a three-day extravaganza, running from June 27-29, starting with an exclusive Friday night party at one of Toronto’s finest nightclubs, the exact location of which will be announced as soon as humanly possible.

You heard it right, friends. Gas up the jet, plug in the electric car, grease up the wheels on your little red wagon, start doing thumb stretches and reread The Hitchhiker’s Guide … whatever it takes to get your collective asses to Toronto for BME’s annual BMEfest.

Now, we hear you asking, “Well, that’s fine and good, but what does a BME party at a nightclub have to offer that a night drinking dandelion whiskey with my cousin Mose and playing Warhammer doesn’t?” And to that we say, nothing … unless you happen to be a fan of awesome music, VIP access (because who stands in lines anymore?) and dancing your ass off with a few hundred of your closest friends — not to mention a few surprises we don’t want to spoil quite yet.

Vague? Maybe a little. But check this page often, as we’ll be announcing more and more details frequently. Until then, shine your shoes, buy a silver shirt and prepare for June 27, 2008! The war is over — tonight, we dance!

ModProm 2008

It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the triumphant return of BME‘s ModProm! Everybody’s favorite excuse to break out the seersucker and classy it up for one special evening is back for another year, this time in one of downtown Toronto’s premier party establishments (the specifics of which we will announce shortly).

Make no mistake, though — this isn’t just a night to play dress-up. This is a real prom, complete with tearful, mascara-smearing exchanges in the ladies’ room, awards (at the moment, the superdelegates are split 50/50 on Prom King) and the chaperonage nonpareil of renowned family man Bob Saget! (No, we haven’t seen the Aristocrats, why do you ask?) As if that’s not enough, you can also look forward to delicious food, an open bar and, above all else, a night with friends and family that will be impossible to forget.
