How much for a picture?

At first when I saw this photo, the tourist posing with photographs from super heroes on Hollywood Blvd popped into my head. Luckily enough for us though this is just one kick ass couple that met through BME. I love the juxtaposition of his heavily modified face and her perfectly plain skin. Gnomoweb and his bride to be are yet another couple from Brasil. 🙂

Sweet and simple

Don’t even post comments about how this isn’t hardcore or it’s boring because it’s “just an ear piercing” but Dustin Robbins from Iris Piercing in Salt Lake City, Utah really spices it up with some kick ass earrings. I love how the more people have stretched lobes, the cooler body jewelry evolves to bring us alternative jewelry to wear. She’s also got a little microdermal tucked above her clavicle.

Chance of Meatballs?

I don’t know if you’ve seen “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, I haven’t, but I have seen the new Best Buy commercial featuring Justin Timberlake and the characters in the movie. When I first saw this photo I laughed out loud. Swoon did an impressive and funny job. Though I’m not sure what else there is to do in St. Johns, Newfoundland in the middle of winter. These cute cheek piercings are by Craig Cutler of Trouble Bound.

Snow White

Now to contrast with the prior post, I’ve got the lily white Coffin’ Jane from France with photography by Lycan. All of these septum posts have me wanting to re-pierce my septum. I’ve never had any luck getting one to heal though so maybe I’ll keep on dreaming. Jane here can join me in my dreams any time.

With Love..

So what does it take to get on Modblog if you don’t have any heavy mods? If you don’t want to turn your weenie inside out or stick a couple hundred needles through your skin? Just send in a submission with a little bit of sticky love. We’re suckers for that sort of stuff.

Sweet Talk Like a Cop

While there may be wrong—or, rather, less than ideal—reasons to commit to body modification sometimes, there isn’t really a “right” reason. For some people, it can be an intensely personal, serious and spiritual act, while for others it’s more a means for generating some lightheartedness—both are valid and important aspects of what we try to cover here. We’ve always loved publishing Babasom‘s submissions because, as we’ve said in the past, they genuinely brighten our day (and, likewise, he genuinely seems to enjoy brightening the days of others), but they also feature a man who is pushing his body in a very real way—even if huge septum piercings aren’t as “cutting-edge” as maybe they once were. “I have helped it bloom,” he says of his “metal flower” above. Don’t ever change, Babasom.

Dear Modblog

I was sitting here, reading through comments mostly from people wishing that my illness would kill me, instead of nice thoughts and well wishes from people who would understand that a severe disabling illness is hard to come to grips with. I found this tattoo and at first I thought it said “Stay Classy” which would have been way too perfect considering the circumstances. So thank you to radical kiba for the almost perfectly timed inner lip tattoo. This sweet tattoo was done by Bobby from Crazy Monkey Tattoo in Brooklyn, NY. I definitely think I know what my next tattoo will be.

The Only Drink

Look, we know Babasom gets featured frequently around here (lots more), but really, few contributors so consistently conjure up the mix of awe and belly laughter that his photos so often elicit. What I mean is—and I say this with nary a hint of hyperbole—if you don’t like his photos, then you are a hater of freedom. There, I said it. And it’s on the Internet, so it has to be true. Plus, he’s modest. Of the above photo, he says, “It was really tough to do this and take the picture at the same time.” That seems like a gross understatement. We love this man.
