Implant Removal After 3 Years
I’ve mentioned before that one of the problems with semi-permanent procedures like implants is that you have the possibility of somewhat intense (especially if they’re DIY or otherwise professionally unassisted) corrective procedures years after the fact. These leg implants on Serpents, a series of 1″ Teflon half domes, were potentially implanted at the wrong depth. Either way, at three years in they were bruised, and finally seriously infected. Removal was required, with the procedure being a quick cut down to the implant, physical removal, and then sutured closure with a drain. There are more pictures and details in tonight’s BME/extreme update.

“My body is my temple, so I choose to decorate it and celebrate it. The transcendence that takes place when I am pierced takes me to a place that is total peace; a place of safety, a place where I become stronger in mind, body, and spirit. It’s like a shield that protects me through this journey called life… for I have seen the journey’s end and remain true to myself. My decision to adorn my body with horns is symbolic of the god Pan, who I feel is my protector. My afinity with nature keeps me close to him and keeps him close to me. This is my life, this is my love.”

Conch Removal
A little while back I posted an anti-tragus removal (ie. Maasai style ear work)… Howie (LunaCobra.net) did this odd procedure, an inner conch removal, on LittleJohn.
Antlers
The lovely Dunebug has one of my favorite implants that Steve Haworth has ever done — the textured pieces running across her collarbones — augmented with tattooing by Jackie Brown at No Ka Oi in Philadelphia. I’m a big fan of her work and aesthetic in general!
Anti-Tragus Removal
A few weeks ago I posted on my personal blog that I wanted to remove my anti-tragus — so I was quite pleased to get this freshly done anti-tragus removal from iam:Howie (aka LunaCobra.net). His procedure for them is to elevate the skin off of the cartilage and then removal so that there is enough skin to comfortably stitch around the new form. Very cool to see these in a modern/Western context! If giant labrets and giant nostrils can come back into style, I hope this can as well.
Microdermal Forhead Mohawk
Thanks to John Durante at Laughing Buddha in Seattle for sending in this shot of a great looking set of microdermals (imagine something half way between a transdermal implant and a dermal anchor if you don’t already know the technique).
Saline Breast Inflation
Pierre Black from Montreal sends in these shots of a temporary breast enlargement he did using a saline drip. These are pretty safe to do in sterile environments (as this was), but I just wanted to add (since there’s been lots of risks discussion lately) that with saline injections sterile technique is exceedingly important because if you make a mistake and drag the wrong microbes in, you bypass many of the body’s defense mechanisms and give them a very hospitable place to breed.

Daaaaaaay-um
Now that’s intense.
Update: Since people are asking, the “why” answer is because the navel is very sensitive and many people greatly enjoy this type of navel play (BME/HARD has a lot of navel play pictures). The “how” answer is because it’s a skewer, not a beveled needle, so when it pierces tissue it spreads more than cutting, and pushes things out of the way before penetrating them. If you want to find more information on this in a fakir context, try a search for “Mirin Dajo”.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!
