A Rising Tide

Hey, would you look at that? Another day, another picture too good for which to not offer an embiggening click-through. This glorious shot is courtesy of Hangman Suspensions (the Hawaii- and Oregon-based one, that is, not to be confused with Pete Sheringham‘s Hanged Man Team in Melbourne, Australia), from their end-of-summer suspension convention held recently at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon coast. Lovely stuff. And, of course, more, more, more…after the jump.

80 Needles, One Breast

Eighty is a rough estimate, of course, but however many it is, we are thoroughly impressed with this play piercing set featuring Bittra! Working the needles is Dau of Sundbyberg, Sweden’s Pain Division, who was apparently called in for this “spontaneous” session. Resourceful! More shots, including one in glorious full color, after the jump.

Tattoo Removal: Knuckle Edition

Hoo boy, and here is some tattoo removal for you, gentle readers, just in time for your company-mandated lunching hour. A little grisly, right? This photo, two days after the appointment, comes to us from a client of the Tattoo Laser Removal Clinic in sunny San Diego, California, but removal aside, we can neither confirm nor deny whether the person featured above still does, in fact, love life. We, of course, hope they do. But really, those blisters form mighty quick—after the jump, the first shot is another close-up from day two, and the final shot is from day one, before these suckers puffed right up.

***

Before we jump across…the jump, though, we figure this is as good a time as any to mention that friend of BME Allen Falkner, who many of you know is also in the tattoo removal business with his company, Fade Fast, has just published an article that we think is worth taking a look at. In it, Allen summarizes and explains the results of a study he recently conducted to “determine how different laser wavelengths interact with particular ink colors, and more specifically, with different brands of tattoo inks.” Give it a read, and if you’re planning on being in Las Vegas this weekend, Allen will be giving a lecture about his findings as well.

**NOTE: Just to clarify, Allen Falkner did not do the removal procedure pictured here.**

The Most Eloquent Silence

Good morning, folks! Let’s begin our dreary Tuesday with the decidedly non-dreary Marina, coming to us from Antwerp, Belgium via Germany, and sporting a 7 mm. philtrum to go along with her 44 mm. (formerly 50 mm.) lobes and those old-soul eyes. Let her sly grin be your umbrella today, ModBloggers. Unless, you know, it’s raining really hard. Then a real umbrella would probably be a better choice.

Tuesday? Tuesday. Monday.

The Youth of a Sparrow

And here we have Duncan, checking in with some fine old school work courtesy of Shaun Bushnell (Glenn’s Tattoo Service), Joe Almquist and Scott Denhalter (Cape Fear Tattoo) and Brian Leebrick (Port City Tattoo), to say nothing of some fancy ear jewelry and a generally winsome demeanor. And hey, this photo also commemorates his one-year anniversary at the aforementioned Cape Fear Tattoo in Greenville, North Carolina, so congratulations for that! Upon hearing about the milestone and seeing the nice bold old school pieces, Bob Roberts showed up at his house, beat him senseless, gave him a cigar and then bought him whiskey and steak all night. True story.*

*Not a true story by any means.

Part of the Force

The Sinner Team is for lovers! God, these kids and their adorable suspension photos, right? The last time we checked in with these folks, Anna was hanging from Stanislav, and there were many awws. This time around, this group of longhairs is being just as cute, except now it’s Pavel and Kate giving each other the lovers’ stare while some folks mill around in the back. We liked this photo so much, we decided it deserved a click-through, so enjoy a higher-res shot as well. As for The Sinner Team, we don’t know how many more couples you count among your ranks, but we are very ready to send some Spanish Fly up Russia way if it means more pictures like this. Just a thought, you know?

Under the Night

Doesn’t it just feel like Germany has all the luck sometimes? Not to stereotype an entire nation, of course, but when some of your more notable exports include hearty beer, tasty sausages, efficient automobiles and, based on what we have the privilege of posting here, excellent tattoo artists, it’s hard not to be just a little jealous. This beautiful confluence of stippling and blackwork, for example, comes to us from Sonja at Amazon Tattoo in Oberhausen, Germany. See? Jealous.

All Your Mental Armor

Happy Monday, ModBloggers! Hope the weekend found you all well. Let’s begin our week with the lovely AmeliaDolore, who, for one reason or another, isn’t much of a talker, but hey, she’s got other good qualities. Like her taste in medical equipment, for example. And her choice in tongue-splitters. And yes, that’s a Bush reference in the title—wanna fight about it?

This Week in BME

And finally, folks, we conclude our broadcast week (and our summer of celebrity death) with this Roadhouse-inspired Patrick Swayze memorial tattoo by Emily at American Ink Tattoos in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She explains:

Roadhouse is a very important movie to my circle of friends (anyone who hasn’t seen the pop-up video commentary on this flick is seriously missing out on some quality drunken laughs), and when Swayze died I drew up this tattoo. It was something I had to do that day, and thankfully my good friend Tom was up for it. The thistle is a metaphor for Dalton, as we all know of his philosophical/cooler genius…

Fare thee well, Swayze. What else went on this week?

Shark attack!

Brianna made her triumphant return to ModBlog.

Josh will seriously just straight up murder you.

The appropriately named Bluetat checked in from some mannequin graveyard. He seemed pretty happy about it.

Balls!

Your editor is not up on his Spanish slang, apparently.

Thanks for hanging around, friends. Also! There may still be some goodies left for BME Shop’s 50%-off Kaos sale! Go take a look before it ends on Sunday at midnight. Other than that, we should be around tomorrow with a fun new interview, which is the sort of thing we can all get behind, right? Then, come Monday, we fire this sucker back up like normal. Until then, have fun, stay safe, and, of course, thank you for your continued support of BME.

Guess What? Autumn Breeze Edition

It’s getting to be that time of year, eh folks? The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter and we’re all breaking out our warm, autumnal sartorial options—even our esteemed Guess What? participants, including Uwe up there! Hopefully I haven’t given away too much, because the first person to guess what’s behind the click-through wins a new fall wardrobe courtesy of J. Crew!*

*Or, to put it another you, you do not win that at all.
