Keep Moving

It may surprise you to learn that your editor, who only spends about 20 hours a day in front of his computer, is not a particularly accomplished cyclist. The same cannot be said, however, for James, currently piercing at High Priestess Piercing, who’s either fixing something on his bike or just posing for some fancy through-the-spokes photo, either one of which is just dandy with us.

Baby, Let’s Transverberate

It’s always a joy when supremely talented artists also have the presence of mind (and talent) to send in great photos too, is it not? Needless to say, we were tickled to get this shot of Dani Danger, courtesy of the hot-handed Steve Haworth and featuring custom ear jewelry and an implant by the man himself. Plus, of course, we also get to use our “Hearty Mohawks” tag for the second time in two weeks, and that, well…that’s just swell.

Swirl and Tangle

We’ve featured the incredible SwingShift SideShow before (here), and really, we’ll continue to as long as they keep submitting material. It’s by no means a stretch to say that this is a group pushing the boundaries of what the human body is capable of as much as any other performers out there. And hey, here are Andrew S. and Kelvikta, captured as candidly as is probably possible. After the jump, a photo of Kelvikta all on her own.

We’re Out For Blood

New Rule: I do not like Motley Crue. I do not think I have ever intentionally listened to one of their songs all the way through. I would like to see Tommy Lee slathered with delicious chestnut honey and chained to a tree in Death-Bear National Park. With that said? The Dirt is one of the most entertaining musical memoirs ever written, and if you commit to an entire goddamn (and surprisingly well-done) backpiece dedicated to these train-wrecks, well, you get featured on ModBlog, friend.

Puzzle Pieces From The Clay

Here’s a particularly peaceful suspension photo from the good folks with Russia’s Thesinnerteam suspension crew, one of the more than 70 suspensions they’ve facilitated since they formed last December September. Really, for our money, it doesn’t get much better than a quiet, isolated, outdoor suspension like this, and, as you’ll see after the jump, these fellas are pretty damn high. Luckily, in case of emergency, Russians have the power of levitation, right? Oh, no? Well…huh.

Keep Watering

Now there’s a pretty face, no? Good looking piercings, a hearty smile, and hey, there’s even some sort of experimental body jewelry on her forehead that manages to not penetrate the skin and instead sticks to the outside! Ha ha, man, what’ll they think of next? Oh, and what the hell, how about a close-up after the jump.

Before The Creation

Welcome back, folks! Hope you all had the loveliest of weekends (and are continuing to enjoy a long weekend, if you have the fortune of being a Canadian government employee). Let us begin the ever-illustrious Shark Week with this intricate, Flower of Life-ish cutting by Brendan Russell at 2012 Tattoo and Piercing in Newcastle, Australia, who writes in to say, “ModBlog my arse, I am always submitting my work to you and other crap gets put up.” Ha ha, zing! Well, here you are, Sir. This is pretty tremendous work here.

Let’s get off on the good foot this week, ModBloggers, even if whales are more your speed than sharks.

Party The Baby Off

Good afternoon, ModBloggers! Hoo boy, summer took a while, but now it has arrived with all of its trademark scrotum-droopening hellishness. Hooray. In honor of this terrible inferno, here is a pretty fantastic sleeve based on the myth of Icarus, one of the all-time great stories about what a dumb asshole the sun can be. I’ll fly as close to you as I damn-well please, you intergalactic bully. More shots, after the jump.

This Week in BME

And rounding out our week, here, is the lovely, doe-eyed and excellently monikered McShady, which I’m pretty sure is the name of the Dublin detective school that Colin Farrell graduated from. You’ve worked hard all week, ModBloggers—you’ve earned your sweets.

(Piercings by Ryan Terrillion and Brian Decker.)

So it goes, friends. What happened this time around?

Hearty mohawks!

Alex, our Suscon correspondent, killed it all week.

George Waters wrote the weirdest column about tattoos ever.

We baited the commentariat just a little bit.

We went black and white, briefly, for a good cause.

There’s always room for cello.

We’ll be in and out over the weekend, but come next week, we’ll fire this sucker back up just like you’d expect. Until then, enjoy your humid weekend, stay safe and, of course, thank you for your continued support of BME.

Great is the Hand

I just assumed this was a Lionel Out Of Step piece when I first saw it, but no! Bested again! This chest tattoo, belonging to kipich, was in fact done by Montreal’s own Yann Black at Glamort. I love tattoos that are creative with their use of space, so this? This really does it for me, not to mention the sleeve and the scarification. High marks all around.
