You know something is painful when…

Allen makes this face.

This is Allen's O(uch) face

Wondering what could possibly be happening that would cause so much pain?  Keep on reading to find out.

Well, I got a message a couple of days ago from Allen telling me about what he recently went through.  Here’s what he had to say.

A month ago, while at a show, I tripped and fell into the stage.  As I fell forward I put my hand out to catch myself.  I’m not sure what it was, but something on one of the stage monitors was sticking up that went right between my nail and my finger.  When I pulled my hand back I realized that that nail was completely loose from the nail bed.  Yes it hurt a lot.  Well, as the night progressed I kept messing with it and eventually I decided to pull the nail off.  This was a mistake because the exposed nail bed was WAY more painful.  It felt like one giant exposed nerve.  (I do not recommend doing that)  It took over a month to finally get all the scabs to peel off.  Also, I had to file it down a bit too because it never really healed like smooth skin.  There was still a hard callused area on top.  As for the tattooing.  Yes, it hurt bad.  The pain is hard to compare, but it felt like he was drilling into the bone.

Of all the things I’ve seen in the BME galleries.  The first picture below is the one that probably makes me feel the most uncomfortable just looking at it.  If you can get past the first one, you’ll see how the healing process went, a good look at the tattoo while it was being done, and the finished product.

Owwwww!!

The man responsible for the tattoo is Mike Tidwell.

With all the work Allen has done for the world of suspension, it’s only fitting that when his nail grows back in, he’ll always have a hook inside him.

Pulling an all-nighter

IAM: Collah Bonez recently had a chance to do her very first pull, with Cere on hand to guide her through it.

The nighttime setting looks like a great environment for her pulling, and you can see just how awesome a time she had with the rest of the images in the pulling gallery.

With the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer, that can only mean one thing: Halloween is coming!  So break out those photos of you in your costumes (that you can also see your mods) and upload them to BME.  Oh, and if you have a tattoo or something else that is horror inspired, send them in as well!

Who needs Bluetooth?

With laws being written all over the world banning the use of cell phones while driving unless a hands free device is being used, Bluetooth technology is everywhere.  In fact it has come to the point where it plays a regular role in the daily habits of a large portion of the commuting population.  As great as the technology is, especially with how many lives it has the potential to save, there are still some people out there looking for alternatives to using a Bluetooth device.  In fact, one such method was uploaded to BME by Kanji just the other day.

See, you don’t need a Bluetooth device if you’ve stretched your lobes, but I’d assume you’d need your phone to have voice activated dialing as it might be tough to hit all the buttons with it that close to your face.

Gazing downward

I try to avoid posting heavily photoshopped images, but in the case of this photo, the photoshopping is what helps establish the tone of the image.  It also doesn’t distract from his piercings and tattoo which really stand out here.

This photo was uploaded anonymously to the piercing galleries, so if you know who the gentleman in the photo is, please speak up.

Everybody walk the dinosaur

If you’re not familiar with the TV show “Dinosaurs”, you’re missing out.  The show was a live action, Henson puppeted sitcom featuring your typical 50s sitcom family, except they were all dinosaurs.  The mother and father were clearly taken from The Honeymooners, which was also the inspiration for The Flintstones.  You had the teenage son and daughter, and the lovable (and somewhat obnoxious) talking baby that had the catch phrase “Not the mama!”.  It lasted 4 seasons, and is one of the few TV series, and the only sitcom, to end with the death of every single character.  You read that right.  The plot of the finale revolved around the coming ice age (accidentally started by the main character), and end with the baby asking what will happen next, as the camera pans out and shows the house being buried under snow.  The final scene is from a reporter and ends on the line ”And, taking a look at the long-range forecast, continued snow, darkness, and extreme cold. This is Howard Handupme. Goodnight. (pause) Goodbye.”

As always, with a TV that memorable, you end up with fans of the show.  Rory (IAM: ScumCity) sent me a message the other day about his newest tattoo.

Dinosaurs

Now Rory is a huge Dinosaurs fan, he loves them so much, he’s even started to look like Earl (the father).

Earl

The resemblance is uncanny!

You can get a closer look at his knuckles in the hand tattoo gallery.

Pierced Love

Sometimes it’s nice to see a picture that makes you want to smile.  BME user Onehandbandit sent in this image of a very happy couple enjoying some time together.

Without knowing who the couple are, or what the story behind the image is, it’s still plain to see a pair of people enjoying each other while simultaneously enjoying their modifications.  You may have to look a little closely because the image is reduced to fit on ModBlog, but you can see that in addition to the play piercing and ribbons wrapped around them, both of their septum piercings are tied together with a strand of purple ribbon.

With everyone requesting more BME Boys and Girls pictures, I thought I’d post something that shows off an adorable couple, meeting everyone half way.

There are more images in the play piercing gallery, as well as the full sized version of this one so you can see the smaller details a little clearer.

A simple note

Looking down at the last post, you can see just how powerful a modification can be.  Trash’s facial branding is both a testament to his faith, but also his dedication to modifying himself.

Yet sometimes something small can have just as powerful an impact on a person as something large.

Take music for example, when you think of a song, so many emotions can be evoked.  Happiness, sadness, the entire emotional spectrum is covered by some form of music.  Yet when it comes down to the basics, music can simply be described as an arrangement of notes.  Think of your favorite song, more than likely it would only take one or two notes for you to recognize it if you heard it on the radio.  Those one or two notes is all it can take for you to not only recognize the song, but to also evoke whatever feelings you have when listening to it.  Now try to imagine that same piece of music, but with a single note changed.  Depending on the note and the arrangement, that single note can transform a song into something completely new, which in turn can evoke an entirely different emotional reaction.

To some, those single notes can affect them so deeply that the music can become part of their identity as a person.  IAM: Sado_Erotique entitled this photo “Identity”, which shows just how much music, even a single note, is important to some of us.

This particular image is from the music tattoo gallery.

Time for the guys to shine

Last week there were a lot of requests for posts of BME Girls, but amongst the comments were a number of requests for some BME Boys.  This week, I’m happy to oblige.

Unfortunately the image was uploaded to the miscellaneous tattoo gallery anonymously, so until someone identifies that backside, it’ll remain nameless.

So just a reminder to everyone, when you upload pictures to BME, make sure you fill in all the boxes so proper credit can be assigned.

It’s Tee Time!

For those of us north of the US border, fall is in full swing.  Days are starting to cool, and nights are getting noticeably longer.  Longer nights mean less daylight, which in turn means less golf time.  That’s probably the reason half of the population of Florida in the winter is snowbirds.  They just need to get their golf fix.

For IAM: Ebayoyo, he gets his golf fix in another way.

tee

So my photoshop skills aren’t the best, but I think you get the idea.  To see the rest of the image, just keep on reading.

FORE!

In case you haven’t guessed, this picture comes from the CBT gallery in BME’s Hard section.

Of course this image begs the question, would teeing off from a penis affect one’s handicap?  Possibly if it hooked to the right or left I suppose.

Happy Birthday Tom!

So here I am with another “Happy Birthday” modblog post for someone who has made a major impact on the piercing industry and the body modification as a whole, the person I consider to be the “smartest man in body piercing”, Tom Brazda.

If you are not familar with Tom Brazda, the BME Wiki entry on him is a good place to start.  I, myself, learned of him the first day I  logged onto the internet. On excruciatingly slow dial up via AOL, my first search was “body piercing”. That search of course lead me to BME and very shortly thereafter I found these interviews with Tom and I was just blown away. The techniques he was using and the knowledge he was sharing totally blew me away. It was at that moment I realized there was so much more to the science aspect of body piercing than I had ever learned through my apprenticeship nor through my own (pre-internet use) research. While those interviews seem dated today, they were WAY ahead of their time when they were first published.

Tom continues to share his knowledge in the various IAM body piercing forums and through personal contact with lots of members of this industry. So take a moment out of your day to wish this piercing pioneer a happy birthday, then jump on google or BME and search “Tom Brazda” to absorb all of the piercing knowledge he shared in the past.
