This Hole-inspired (probably?) piece is plenty pretty on the outside, too—though I guess you sort of expect that with a cutting (plus electro-cautery branding!) by the excellent Christiane at Pinpoint Piercing in Oslo, Norway. Also, wow, considering this is the inglorious Summer of Celebrity Death, is Courtney Love just hiding out in her panic room for days on end or what? Stay safe out there, famous crazies.

Good day, fair ModBloggers! Hope the weekend finds you all well. Before you celebrate your country by blowing up a small part of it this evening, take a look at this intense stomach flesh-removal piece on Travis by Dan Marshall while guest-spotting at Studio 13 in Bowmanville, Ontario. After the jump, a few more shots of the procedure (including one a few weeks into the healing process).
Here we have Dan and Travis, horsing around with some sort of medieval death blade. “Please take note of the sweet-ass Soviet tank goggles,” Dan says in between vicious stabs.
And this is the piece about a month and a half into the healing process. There are obviously some slight textural inconsistencies, but, as we’ve seen in the past, six weeks or so is hardly enough time to tell exactly how a scar will end up. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing how these progress!
Hey, it’s not a worm in the schnozz, but this cutting of a harp by young master Ryan Ouellette at Precision Body Arts in Nashua, New Hampshire, is one hell of a nice piece, is it not? The strings probably jump out initially, but man alive, the intricacy over on the right side? Outstanding work. Unless, of course, the wearer is 12 feet tall. In which case, you know, still very nice, but maybe a bit easier to pull off. Yeah, I’ll just show myself out.

Guh, are we live? Can you hear me, ModBlog? Sorry about the radio silence since yesterday afternoon—a combination of Internet and computer problems at The Manor have hamstrung this operation we all enjoy so much. But…I think things are back in working order and we’ve moved beyond those aforementioned technical difficulties. Good morning, folks! Let’s start off this unseasonably wet and chilly week of June with this month-old forehead cutting by Alicia in Milan, Italy. Many of the facial scarification pieces we’ve seen lately have been pretty heavy duty, so it’s nice to see something a bit more subtle as well—variety is the spice of life and all that, etc. And, hey, for the good of the land, we’ve got a dead-on shot of the above cutting after the jump.

Hey, that was an exciting-ish day, right? A Lionel tattoo, L’il Mister Strange, and a glorious running diary of one of those newfangled tattoo reality shows. Let’s wind down with this beautiful scarification project composed of Hindu iconography—Trishula, Om and Swastika. Two months into the healing process, these pieces were done by Dimitri working out of Officina in Milano, Italy. Between the precision of the design and the evenness of the way they’re healing, this is shaping up to be a truly gorgeous piece. Sleep on that, ModBloggers. We’ll see you tomorrow.

I have to admit, I’m still sometimes amazed by the radically different ways in which people may develop scars as a result of cuttings. Here we’ve got a pair (actually, a trio) of cuttings that illustrate this nicely. Up above is a scarification piece by Wendi from Ann Arbor, one year old at this point—healing well and evenly, leaving a somewhat faint scar. After the jump, another pair of cuttings by Wendi that took a wildly different turn.
Night and day? Night and day. The single-line around her breasts is six months old, and the lotus cutting is three months old. The wearer in this case is referred to as “my muse”—with good reason, it seems! Obviously, bits of the breast scar have underdeveloped in relation to the rest of it, but what a reaction nonetheless.
