Another day, another zombie

The Halloween pictures keep trickling in, and this image sent in by TakeOffYourSkin is a prime example of just how much fun dressing up can be.  According to the information, the artist is Simon from PzyDesign in Kalmar, Sweden.  There’s a second image as well that can be found in the stretched lobes gallery.

To all those who complain about the oversaturation of zombies in popular culture, you really should be thankful.  You see, WHEN the zombie apocalypse happens, you’ll now exactly what to do (and more importantly what not to do) when you’re face to face with a zombie.

Quick quiz:  What is the first thing you should do when you turn around and see this facing you…

BMEGirls make the world go ’round

Rachel (aka Snake Woman) has sent in yet another series of pictures that showcase just how great the BMEGirls tag can be.  This time around she’s showing off her half-sleeve by Frank Pirrone.

Gazing downward

I try to avoid posting heavily photoshopped images, but in the case of this photo, the photoshopping is what helps establish the tone of the image.  It also doesn’t distract from his piercings and tattoo which really stand out here.

This photo was uploaded anonymously to the piercing galleries, so if you know who the gentleman in the photo is, please speak up.

Pierced Love

Sometimes it’s nice to see a picture that makes you want to smile.  BME user Onehandbandit sent in this image of a very happy couple enjoying some time together.

Without knowing who the couple are, or what the story behind the image is, it’s still plain to see a pair of people enjoying each other while simultaneously enjoying their modifications.  You may have to look a little closely because the image is reduced to fit on ModBlog, but you can see that in addition to the play piercing and ribbons wrapped around them, both of their septum piercings are tied together with a strand of purple ribbon.

With everyone requesting more BME Boys and Girls pictures, I thought I’d post something that shows off an adorable couple, meeting everyone half way.

There are more images in the play piercing gallery, as well as the full sized version of this one so you can see the smaller details a little clearer.

Hold that thought

The last time a lip corset was shown on ModBlog was back in 2007.  There may have been one since then, and I’m sure if there has someone will find it, but it definitely seems to be a rare type of corsetry.  BME user DivaPayyne sent in this image of her lip corset recently.  Stylistically, the pink ribbon combined with the pink hair gives her an almost doll-like quality.

lips

The different types of interpretations that a lip corset can bring about are interesting.  Historically, the corset was used by women to force their bodies into a desired shape in order to satisfy the societal demands that were imposed on them.  Nowadays corsets are used for a variety of different uses, some stylistically, some for fetishists, others for practical use, and so on.  When it comes to corset piercings, the aesthetic of the corset is combined with the classical usage of a corset.  The idea of binding.  Now of course this doesn’t apply to all corset piercings, but there are some that do emphasize the constricting nature of a corset.  When this is applied to the lips, you get a sense that the woman’s lips are binded in a way to prevent her from speaking out past what is expected of her.

One of the most important aspects of a corset piercings is the process, putting in the piercings, stringing them together, and the eventual release and removal of the corset.  So while from an outsiders point of view we see the mid point of the process, the corset in place, for the people getting them it is much more than that.  Looking back on this individual image, DivaPayyne’s lips are bound together, but at some point, with the tug of a string, she will be free of her bindings and able to speak again.

As always you can check out more corset piercings in the corset gallery, where in addition to this particular lip corset, there are a great deal more images that show just how creative people can be when it comes to creating a corset.

Sometimes bigger is better

IAM:Twosteps sent in this shot of himself the other day, and unless I’m missing something it looks like he’s managed to stretch all of his piercings above the neck.

twosteps

I know that the concept of “bigger is better” has been discussed on ModBlog recently, but in the case of Twosteps here, he shows off that for him, bigger is definitely better.  When it comes to stretching out any piercing, there’s a degree of commitment made towards an eventual goal.  I use the term commitment because the act of stretching is a long and involved process.  Of course it can be sped up at points with the assistance of a skilled practitioner, but over time there is only so much outside assistance one can get.  In the end it takes both mental and physical commitment to the goal for it to be realized.  So in addition to the time it takes to stretch something out, there is also the need for patience, because we all know what can happen if a stretching is rushed.

Thankfully for Twosteps here, it looks like everything is going well on his part.  I don’t know if he’s done with everything or not, but the matching jewelry, combined with the placementof the piercings, really make the big piercings look great on him.

Accentuating Beauty

Occasionally I’ll get a message from someone requesting their image be posted about on ModBlog, but every once in a while I’ll get a note from someone requesting someone else’s photos be posted.  Well, thanks to IAM: MoseZ, he was able to point out a couple of pictures in the galleries that I had skipped over.

IAM: Jay-Z has sent in quite a few images over the past couple of months, and each one is better than the last.  This first image appeared in the galleries back in June, and it gives us a sneak peek at this beautiful woman.

What MoseZ pointed out, and what I agree with completely, is that her mods really accentuate her beauty. Aesthetically the piercings and tattoos seem like a natural extension of herself.  So while she may have been attractive before getting tattooed and pierced, it seems like adding the mods is like putting the rest of the pieces back into place.  An unfinished puzzle that needed completion.  But of course, beauty is subjective.  The things one person may see as attractive, another person may see as ugly.  It all depends on our own personal perspectives in life to determine what we find pleasing to the eye.  You may not agree with MoseZ and I in that her modifications accentuate what she already had, but what I think we can all agree on is that the piercings and tattoos are very well done, and she is comfortable with how she looks.  Which is really the most important factor in all this.  Sure people pass judgments on others all the time based on their appearance, but what matters most is how we feel about ourselves, and doing what we feel is important to our bodies to attain the external vision that we wish to project.

What do you think?  Do modifications accentuate what is already there, or are they just a natural extension of a person, to be seen as part of the whole?  Or do you think something else?

I’ve added a couple more images after the break which should give you an idea of how the rest of her looks.

Just at a glance I can see both stretched lobes and large gauge cartilage, large labret, medusa, septum and notstrils, and of course the facial tattoos.  The man responsible for the medusa is IAM: Bhaileon aka Cheyne Truitt.
