Cheese Cutter Theory Disproved

(At least this once)

Julias says that despite the thin wires he wears through them (there’s a closeup after the break of his dubious choice of jewelry), his nipple piercings haven’t rejected after a remarkable forty years. He did these piercings back in the mid/late 1960s on a dare (a friend did them for him at his home in the UK), and has worn them ever since!

Mohan Gurung Interview Posted

I think in definitely far less controversial territory than the previous piece, I’ve just posted a quick interview with Mohan Gurung of Mohan’s Tattoo Inn, located in Kathmandu, Nepal, about his tattoo art and what it’s like to be a part of the rapidly changing culture in this small Hindu nation just north of India. As always, click through for the interview, and return here to comment.

Best White Power Tattoo Ever.

Mike, who plays guitar for The Seventh Gate and Call The Paramedics says of his Nazi unicorn tattoo by Painless J at Marlowe Ink in Fairfax, Virginia, “only the whites get angry, hah… funny how that works?”

Continue reading for his other, equally questionable tattoos.

The piece above (also by Painless J) is brilliant I think… The piece below? Not so sure… last time I posted gender bending shit eating on BME it didn’t go so well.

Both of these transsexual pieces (with apologies to any transsexuals reading this) were done by Eric Doyle of Jinx Proof Tattoo in Washington DC. I’m sure he’s thrilled to be credited, haha…

Edit/Update: Thanks to cuntcumber for reminding me I needed to include Mike’s knee tattoo as well:

Zombie (“Skullboy”) Interview Posted

Edit/Update: After being offline for ages, here’s an archival link for the first-ever published interview with Rick Genest / Rico / Zombie Boy/ Skullboy.

Sorry about not getting this online earlier — it’s been a long day, which among other things, includes having a transport truck smash into me while I was driving with my daughter to an appointment! Ack!

Big thanks to Veronika for scoring (and doing) an interview with the infamousSkullboy“, more appropriately known as Montreal’s Zombie. Click through to check it out, and as always, come on back to comment.

PS. You may remember Veronika from her cat portrait neck tattoo as well as her half-sleeve — she’s no stranger to both being featured and creating features!

As if getting killed and eaten wasn’t bad enough!

So I was at the grocery store and my daughter and I were looking at all the various bits of animals they had — pig’s feet, pig’s tails, and then, when we picked up a pig’s ear, I saw it had been tattooed… Anyway, tomorrow is a busy day so I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be able to squeeze in posts, but I’ve got some great stuff lined up, and the other good news is that later this week we’ll be posting a full interview with Zombie (aka Skullboy)!

A Shrimp’s Nightmare

I think this “zipperback” tattoo is a neat idea (my only nitpick is that I don’t think the spinal anatomy is quite right) — it was done by Ron Stoolfire at Munkehed Tatu in Newark, Ohio. Design-wise it could be continued down the arms I suppose and flow into another piece quite nicely on a design sense…

Cyborg Cutting

This cutting on Michele (which I thought kind of resembled my forehead tattoo, which is probably why I liked it) is based one that one of the characters in the the Karl Persson painting “Ascending” (about the middle of the bottom row in his gallery as I write this) has, and was cut by Ighlif at Happy Family in Torino, Italy. While people have been doing beautiful work with high detail scarification, personally I prefer these very simple geometric designs, and think they also have the best chance of looking good for life.
