This Week In BME

Good Shabbos, ModBloggers! We all got such a kick out of Timmo‘s pimp-bee the other day that we figured, hey, it’s a mitzvah, right? Luckily, he had more work in his portfolio to provide us with the means for an appropriate celebration. L’chaim! After the jump? More of Timmo’s handiwork. Compton, stand up.

And that’s the week! What went down this time around?

This father-daughter bonding made us all melt just a little bit.

Life, death and scars.

Peck will seduce you now.

Everyone has their own methods for dealing with living in the bible belt.

That’s one happy Dalai Lama.

Speak up, zipperface!

We didn’t really expect anybody to guess this “Guess What?” edition.

And there we have it. Weekend rules apply as usual. Next week? We’ll be on the scene for Tattoo Hollywood all week, so expect lots of goodies. Until then, have fun, stay safe and, of course, thank you for your continued support of BME.

Tattoo Hollywood, BME’s first tattoo convention, is coming to Los Angeles from August 21-23, featuring contests, prizes and some of the best artists from around the world! Click here for more information.

No Need For Temples

Hoo boy, so, I was honestly just kidding yesterday when I mused about the possibility of Nelson Mandela being dragged through the mud by some commenters, but sure enough, it literally took only a single post before a political flame war broke out. Hey, fine. I guess Mr. Mandela is a more polarizing figure than I’d anticipated. But you know, I do so enjoy a challenge, and this gorgeous portrait of the Dalai Lama was too good not to share, but I’m curious now—what sorts of terrible, unseemly revelations will be unearthed following its posting? Did he buy an HD TV, but hasn’t yet sprung for an HD tuner? Has it been weeks since he’s emptied the dehumidifier? Is he hiding a Kenyan birth certificate? Don’t let me down, folks.

The Flock in Wooly Fold

Oh, hello! Welcome back to Temple ModBlog, fellow worshippers! These heathen incarnations of all your favorite religious figures are probably the end result of Catholic God and Wiccan Satan doing a few too many lemon drops at the neighborhood pub, finding some month-old poppers and then just cold going to town on each other, giving in to carnal pleasures the likes of which no earthly being shall ever know. That is how we get the Owl Jesus and Panther Mary, which became the story of Gremlins, the end.

(These excellent pieces adorn the thighs of NattyNoLocks, and were tattooed by Issac Fainkujen in Tempe, Arizona.)

Spear of Gold

Ahoy-hoy, ModBloggers! Here’s the latest offering from Marina Storme at Atomic Zombie, a glorious back-piece interpretation of a statue depicting The Ecstasy of St. Theresa, tattooed on none other than her own father. How great is that? Not to mention, I can’t think of a better way to fill the Marina-void while waiting for an update to this masterpiece.

It’s Tuesday, ModBlog—let’s melt all the ice in our heads.

Salty Seconds

I have to say, I’m a big fan of this uncommonly angular Jesus-on-the-cross image by Gypy from Kustom-Ink in East Flanders, Belgium. The face is a little grislier than usual, but I also kind of feel like this is what Jesus would look like if he’d been a character on Clone High. And I like that.
