The Rise Of The Split/Stretched Lobe

Well, it hasn’t even been a week since we first noted Micah‘s pretty ingenious prostheses he developed to address a necessary but unfortunate lobe split (we also shamefully misspelled his name not once, but twice. Guhhh), and now, be it inspiration or coincidence, Helsinki-based klitoris has fashioned himself a similar set-up. He, of course, has opted for some danglier (or “blingier,” to hear him tell it) jewelry. The original posting was a bit controversial among the commentariat, and the fact that this idea is SPREADING LIKE WILDFIRE is sure to fire up some lively debate, so let’s do our best to set the terms, shall we? Is this an example of the cleverness and ingenuity that makes this community great, or is it an insidious trend that will destroy body modification as we know it? The truth is likely somewhere in between. (Or maybe just the first one.)

Sat By The Ships

Whoa hey, straight outta Budapest comes this cutting by Gábor Zagyvai at his eponymous studio in the aforementioned Hungarian capital. This piece is well into the healing process, and, happily, is affixed to someone with an appropriately warrior-esque body to boot. If, however, you do find yourselves engaged in a decades-long battle of attrition with him, his only weakness? Gift horses. Roll one of those suckers up to his front door and you’ll be sacking that castle in no time. A close-up of Gábor’s handiwork, after the jump.

Good For The Swarm

As we all know, honey bees are some of the most vicious, cold-blooded, calculating killers in the insect kingdom. It’s true. They attack indiscriminately, all hopped up on The Devil’s Gold, engaging in wild, deadly kamikaze missions. Well, now, it seems, these audacious super-villains have expanded into the sex trade, which makes sense, we guess. While we would not wish this fate on anybody, if anybody does find him- or herself in a bee’s stable, please be careful—beyond that winsome smile is a deceptively powerful and merciless pimp hand.

I Hold The Wound

And here we have the steely gaze of the very lovely, very stoic Anonymous Swede! (Probably not her real name.) Sharp piercings, pleasant symmetry and the always appreciated dark hair/blue (green? hazel?) eyes combination? That’ll work for us!

(Septum pierced at 16-gauge by Stefan at Sailor Steve’s in Visby, Sweden, and self-stretched to eight-gauge.)

Bury Your Mistakes

“Blonde doctors have more fun,” says the lovely factorygirl, seen above covered in some sort of post-surgical plasma, checking out the structural integrity of her old-timey operating table, for safety. Also note the placement of the syringe, conveniently located on the top of her head, which is just sensible, really—to say nothing, of course, of her six-gauge nostrils by Kyle Petersen and labret (recently downsized from 00-gauge to two-gauge) by Rev Lower at Evolved Body Art in Columbus, Ohio. After the jump? She may want to get that eye looked at.

Vigor And Variety

Ahoy-hoy, folks! Let’s start our Wednesday with this series of shots presided over by Pete Sheringham at The Piercing Urge in Melbourne, Australia, who, with the aid of some surgical staples, affixed this zipper to the mouth of, hmm, who is that, The Gimp? Probably not. Either way, fun! After the jump, zipper-mouth speaks, or is at least given the opportunity.

No Need For Temples

Hoo boy, so, I was honestly just kidding yesterday when I mused about the possibility of Nelson Mandela being dragged through the mud by some commenters, but sure enough, it literally took only a single post before a political flame war broke out. Hey, fine. I guess Mr. Mandela is a more polarizing figure than I’d anticipated. But you know, I do so enjoy a challenge, and this gorgeous portrait of the Dalai Lama was too good not to share, but I’m curious now—what sorts of terrible, unseemly revelations will be unearthed following its posting? Did he buy an HD TV, but hasn’t yet sprung for an HD tuner? Has it been weeks since he’s emptied the dehumidifier? Is he hiding a Kenyan birth certificate? Don’t let me down, folks.

Unto Others

Ha ha, well if this isn’t some sweet retribution. We’re used to seeing Xed Le Head inflict unknown pain and suffering on various clients, but now the tables have turned! Here he is, getting a taste of his own medicine, courtesy of Pink (from Tattoo Pink in Hasselt, Belgium). Really though, this is just a whole lot of incredible tattoo work in one place, and judging by the stoic display, this is just further evidence that Xed is nothing if not the consummate bad-ass.

The Sky On His Back

And here we have a, shall we say, rather unwilling resident of the Palmetto state. This young lady recently packed up and moved to South Carolina, and was not exactly thrilled about her new locale. One thing that’s helped her adjust? That little bluebird tattoo.

I moved to South Carolina from New Haven, Connecticut. I never liked living in S.C.—actually, quite frankly I hated it. One morning, though, I woke up and saw a different kind of bird in a tree in my back yard. It had a blue back and a bright reddish/orange breast; my dad told me that it was a bluebird. For some reason this one little bird was like a ray of positivity over my heart, and I eventually learned that bluebirds were a sign of good luck. I connected blue birds as my good luck charm and that I will survive living in the bible-belt. I’ll always carry that good luck with me wherever I go.
