Rescue Ourselves From Ourselves

Well, folks, it’s time to bring to a close the world-famous “Impromptu Zoo” day on BME’s ModBlog. Rounding out the efforts today is this great leg-piece on Harm, featuring man’s best friend (a dog) engaged in an epic battle with, by far, the greatest threat currently facing the human race (a dragon). You know who wins when someone gets a fantastic tattoo of a dog fighting a dragon? We all do. We all do.

Fare thee well, ModBloggers. Until tomorrow.

Panic Plays No Part

Continuing with today’s seat-of-the-pants animal/insect theme, here we have the lovely Heather, all nursed up and doling out an off-screen stare-down. What does this have to do with insects? Check out Heather’s flaming cicada, after the jump.

… OK, it’s probably a moth. I just liked the sound of “flaming cicada.”

Ohhh, Bug Plugs

That saucy little minx Uranium Hobo just sent in these shots of him sporting some home-made bug plugs. It was his first time casting in resin and, while he says they’re not perfect, everything is “glass smooth” except for a few nicks around the edges that he says don’t affect anything. These ones were rather heavy and stretched out the piercings somewhat, so next up will be a thinner pair, more suitable for long-term wear, filled with mantises.

Without a Porpoise

America’s favorite vagabond, Howie, who is no stranger to the ol’ ModBlog, checks in with this fancy fish cutting he did with his apprentice, Brendong. Howie said this cutting was performed “down under,” which I assume is a reference to either Australia or Hades, the abode of the dead. Hard to say.

Do You Like Movies About Gladiators?

Good morning, ModBloggers! Let’s start the day off right, with an Island of Dr. Moreau–esque hell demon. This insane Leslie Nielsen/butterfly cross was tattooed by Chris Hall at Crown and Anchor Tattoo in Barrie, Ontario, and, well…wow. I support this wholeheartedly, don’t get me wrong, but in the interest of safety, I think both artist and client should check their homes for gas leaks.

A Bard Before a Priest

I love this picture of Steve standing ominously over twin resurrection-suspendees Dani Danger and Cari at a recent Life Suspended gig at the Arizona Fetish Ball. I have to say, though, Steve’s outfit looks like it doesn’t breathe at all, especially in a hot nightclub—someone get this man a Snuggie!

Gnats Never Bite Your Nose

So apparently, old Mother Nature doesn’t give a good goddamn that today is the holiest of holies, opening day, and has decided to blanket much of North America in hated snow and sleet and rain, just to be a bitch. Well, luckily, her awful bitterness hasn’t extended to Glasgow Poitiers, France, where the lovely Possessed is just hangin’ out in the sun, pickin’ daisies and stickin’ them through her septum piercing, as one is wont to do on such a summery day. Must be nice.

Be Aggressive

Anders, who’s been featured on ModBlog several million times, checks in with these very nicely executed swallow scarifications. I say it often, but watching the vast, constant improvements in scarification is one of the great joys of being so immersed in this community. I think many of us were probably too young to witness the same sort of growth in the tattoo community, but scarification seems like the next frontier in a lot of ways.

A few more procedural shots, after the jump.

Count Every Beautiful Thing We Can See

We’ve featured this beautiful Chris Dingwell backpiece before in a more unfinished state and hot holy damn, it is looking tremendous. The cloud effect, which was discussed at length in the previous post, is much clearer now, the classical-style nudes are a great touch, and the birds on her shoulder are a lovely addition as well. Hopefully we’re kept in the loop if this goes any further!
