Bigger’s Better But Bigger’s Bigger

Hey now, it’s been a while since we’ve checked in with La Negra and her pals, eh? Time to correct that! Here we have some shots of Towa‘s first suspension, facilitated by the aforementioned La Negra, as well as Valnei and photographed by Martinetik. First suspension ever, surrounded by a crew like that and wearing a jaunty ascot to boot? That’s a recipe for a good time, folks. A shot of the refractory period, including a nice view of Towa’s shoulder scarification, after the jump.

Tattoo Hollywood, BME’s first tattoo convention, is coming to Los Angeles from August 21-23, featuring contests, prizes and some of the best artists from around the world! Click here for more information.

What Do You Call a Suspension That’s Not Yours?

Nacho suspension! Eh? Eh?

**gongggggg**

ANYWAY, here we have the aforementioned Ignacio’s first suspension in Montevideo, Uruguay, being attended to by the lovely La Negra, who basically lives on ModBlog. As far as first suspensions go, this one seems like it got a lot of the parts just right. A few more shots after the jump.

This Week in BME

It’s been a big week, ModBlog: Sit down and have you some BME cake. I’m sure the lady in the plaid, whose birthday it is, and who got a silicone triangle implant in her chest at Happy Family Body Art in Torino, Italy, won’t mind at all.

And that’s the week, folks. So what were the barnburners this time around?

A hobo got dragged around by a puffy little dog.

Miss Duveaux got the diamond she’s always wanted.

Coming soon to a diabetic near you: Glucose-monitoring tattoo ink!

A really wonderful interview with Diego in Distortion (Diego Olavarría), a former BME Scholarship winner, and a tremendously bright fellow all around.

This is just one hell of a nice sleeve.

Have we mentioned that the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts convention is coming up soon? As in, next weekend? And that you should all go? Have we mentioned that yet?

La Negra wins.

Fuck you, penguin! (No, really: Fuck you, penguin.)

And there we have it, ladies and gents. Check back in over the weekend for some more goodies, and then we’ll be back at full-speed, as usual, on Monday morning. Be safe, ModBlog, don’t forget to cheer for Mickey Rourke on Sunday, and, as always, thank you for your continued support of BME.

This Week in BME

So here is a rather ingenious recession-era idea, since all of the food, everywhere, will soon be looted by roving packs of the unemployed (read: everyone), our friend shahafpoint has drafted this prototype candy that also grows nutritious herbs and spices! As dark as the days may get, at least we will be able to dry our tears with oregano leaves.

Wait, no, shahafpoint got this piece in tribute to his grandmother and her Tic Tac addiction. That’s much sweeter.

(Tattoo by Avi Nassi at Psycho in Tel Aviv, Israel.)

And just like that, Friday night is flashing us, signaling it’s time to go. What happened this week, anyway?

  • We handed out our year-end awards, in case you missed them! Thanks, everyone!
  • A minor shitstorm over an eyebrow-removal scarification has progressed into a full-blown wild-shitfire, which continues to burn, murdering everything in its path.
  • The BME Scholarship is back! This is a really excellent cause. Give accordingly.
  • Clint Eastwood thinks you’re all a bunch of pussies.
  • Ferg and La Negra wasted valuable food, because they are bad, sexy people.
  • And there we have it. A post or two over the weekend, and then we put on our game-face and get back to it, Monday morning. Stay tuned next week for a fun article on a piercer who has been around forever, more or less, and who had a pretty full year that’s only getting busier. Until then, stay safe, and thank you for your continued support of BME. Have a great weekend.

    IAM: xronix

A fine week, in the books. Some highlights:

  • We had apples.
  • La Negra popped in and, as usual, lit up our lives.
  • Some people find tattoo shops in malls an affront to everything that the art-form stands for, while some merely hate the idea.
  • Scotty may or may not have left a mark on that handsome chair.
  • Noobs were told to STFU, and some people did not approve.
  • Paul King schooled us on nipples.
  • And that’s all for this week, folks. We’ll pop in a couple times over the weekend, and then it’s back to normal, bright and early-ish on Monday morning. Happy Halloween, ModBlog. Stay safe.

    Light and Flickering

From what I can gather, this photo was taken for the lovely La Negra‘s thirtieth birthday, and it is, unsurprisingly, as stunning as we’ve come to expect from her. But, ha ha, good luck blowing out those candles! (Yeah, I’ve got nothing.)

    Club Namunkura Reopening Party

La Negra sent in a series of photos taken of herself and friends (some of my favorite people — you should recognize Komando, Towa, and others if you’re a long-time reader) at the reopening of Club Namunkura in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Below are Marco, La Negra, Natalia, and Santa Gabriela. Martin Del Pozo was there to take pictures — more continue after the break.
