So, the week has come and gone. In case you missed it:

More scheduling conflicts, but I swear we’ve got at least one podcast coming up very soon, as well as another roundtable, more video … it’s a regular goddamn multimedia wonderland around here. That aside, we’ll be here over the weekend as per usual. Before I sign off for the night, I just want to mention that, while I rarely don’t allow comments through, I have no problem keeping something in moderation if it meets certain levels of vulgarity or off-topic-ness. I really like this shot of Pirão suspending in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. If you were to look just at the top half, it’d be your typical Christ-like outdoor woodsy suspension picture, but no—just behind him are apartments, a strip mall and city buses. Hey, a little minor cognitive dissonance never hurt anybody.

Hey, it’s actually been a little while since we’ve posted anything from the mad geniuses at Swastika Freakshop! The last we had Nadine on ModBlog, it was to show off her gorgeous done-by-Freakshop wings. This time around? Her stunning symmetrical sleeves, naturally done by Marc at the aforementioned Swastika Freakshop. This lady is sporting some of the nicest goddamn tattoos around.
So, you want a tattoo celebrating one of your favorite movies, but one that alludes to other artists as well? What to do?
I really wanted a Star Wars tribute tattoo, and my artist really wanted to do one. I didn’t want anything overused or anything, like the insignia or a lightsaber, and I didn’t want a huge scene with ships and everything, so we decided to kind of create something. I liked the shape of the AT-AT walkers, but they were kind of beefy. I was thinking I wanted something more slender, like a Dali elephant, and here it is! I’m so happy with how it turned out, and I’m really glad to have something completely original on my body.

Kevin, a UK transplant living in the Netherlands, who has “always been fascinated by tattoos [with his] main interest in Northwest (Haida) tattoos,” sends in this portrait shot of himself by Sydney Korsse. This sort of scattershot approach to tattoos doesn’t always work well, but the fact that he’s stuck with such a unified theme actually makes for a nice effect, I think. Continuing this afternoon’s nipple extravaganza, Roger sends in these photos and explains in the classy third-person:
It all started with Roger and Holly pondering what they could do with nipple piercings that had not been done or seen before. Roger then remembered the T-bar and decided to do a new twist on it. With dermal anchors becoming popularized, and having mastered surface areas with them, he thought the nipple would be a new and exciting territory. Because Roger already pierced Holly’s nipples as we traditionally see them, he ventured into the T-bar look with dermal anchors posing as the top. They are two completely separate piercings, and the dermal anchor adds a classy and sophisticated personal touch. Never before done, he has awed us with his innovative imagination and successfully colored outside of the lines once again! This is a beautiful, creative addition to the other modifications he’s already done on Holly, including her lobes, septum, conch, nipples, vertical lip and ornate cutting on her hip.
